What a IPL 2019 final! It was worth the wait and it was worth every penny. No one could have written the script better. It’s Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians who will be sitting on the Iron Throne of the Indian Premier League.
Mumbai Indians won the Indian Premier League 2019 after they won a nailbiter against Chennai Super Kings by just 1 run. From the first over of the match till the last one – the momentum kept on changing from one end to the other.
This is Mumbai Indians record fourth IPL title and it has all come under the leadership of Rohit Sharma.
Shane Watson’s 80 went in vain for Chennai Super Kings as Mumbai made a spectacular comeback late on. MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings needed 9 off the final over but Lasith Malinga’s final over heroics helped Mumbai seal the win.
Mumbai this season had got better of Chennai in the league stages twice and thrashed them in the qualifier as well. After giving Chennai target of 150 – Mumbai were on top after they picked up wickets of Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni in quick succession.
However, nine runs were needed off the final over. With just 5 needed from the last three deliveries, Watson was run out. Eventually, Chennai needed 2 off the final ball but Malinga dismissed Shardul Thakur and Mumbai won their fourth title.
