Alex Hales has been ruled out of India’s tour after he sustained a fracture in hand. Though the opening batsman traveled with England squad to Kolkata, he is now set to leave the country on Saturday.
Hales injured his right hand when diving to attempt a catch in the second ODI. He later opened the innings for the visitors but was seen removing his hands from the bat at many instances while chasing a stiff total of 382 runs.
England are yet to announce Hales’ replacement.

One of the opening options for the visitors can be Sam Billings who also opened the innings against Bangladesh in Chittagong last year in October. Billings scored 93 runs in the first warm up match against India A in Cricket Club of India, Mumbai.
Meanwhile, Eoin Morgan-led England side have been slapped a fine for slow over rate during their second encounter against India in Cuttack.
England lost the match by 15 runs to hand over India an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. Earlier, MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh smashed individual hundreds during the course and helped India score a mammoth 381 runs in allotted 50 overs after they were left tottering at 25/3.
England and India will now meet for the third ODI in Kolkata.
