Babar Azam, the swash-buckling right-hander batsman who’s shown immense promise already, has now entered the history books already! He becomes the fifth fastest cricketer to score 1000 runs, sharing the elite list with Quinton de Kock, Kevin Pietersen, Sir Viv Richards and Jonathan Trott.
Babar has been one of the revelations from the Pakistani middle order setup who for too many years, have been reeking with layers of mediocre batsmen. Along with Shafiq and Azhar Ali, the Pakistani middle order now does show some sign of the heavy artillery of the 90’s, for which Pakistan was once renowned for.
As I write, Babar Azam is currently batting brilliantly on 66 while Umar Akmal has surprisingly, not lost his cool yet and is playing the waiting game, at 15 runs off 26 balls so far. With Pakistan at 196/4 at the end of 37 overs, they will look to up the tempo in the last 12 and will atleast target a minimum of 300.
