If there is one thing that is going around in minds of Mahendra Singh Dhoni fans, it is the question of whether he is going to play in the 2019 World Cup or not? Especially, after he stepped down from captaincy, the talks are that he might call it a day after the Champions Trophy this year.
MSD on Thursday kicked all such speculations out of the park when he, during an event, showed his interest in carrying forward in India colours even after the ODI World Cup in 2019.
He said during the event, “We are in 2017 and the World Cup is in 2019. A lot can change in two years. Especially when you have played cricket for over ten years, you know that the schedule of the Indian cricket team is a very tough one.”
He continued speaking on how an injury-free body is needed to play international cricket for a longer time. He said, “You become a vintage car after having served the cricket for so long. A lot of caring is needed. Tomorrow anything could happen to the body. You could get any injury, may be a ligament tear, maybe an hamstring injury.”
And just when everyone thought that Dhoni might not carry on playing till 2019, he said this, “If nothing happens and I remain like this throughout, I can go beyond 2019 World Cup.”
This was MS Dhoni, yet again, finishing off in style.
