The day 2 of the Ranchi Test will be special for Glenn Maxwell for more than one reason. On the first ball of the morning, he saw his bat breaking into two pieces. Moments later, he did what not many people had expected him to do, which is scoring a Test ton.
In the Press conference after the end of day 2, he looked relaxed. Speaking on how happy he was when his name was included in the playing XI, he said, “I was so happy to be walking out in the field with the Australian Test team with the baggy green cap on. I felt joy when I was told that I had the opportunity to play this game.”
Maxwell added that he did not want to waste this opportunity as this could have been his last chance had he failed. He said, “I did not really want to waste the opportunity. Did not want to make it my last Test. I thought about it all night and went through 300-400 scenarios I was going to face in the match. Most of them were not good. But yes, there was so much emotion that fell out of me when I got the hundred. It’s a special moment in my career.” Adding that, “I have always spoken about red-ball cricket and to be able to show that at Test level. I am extremely proud to show that. I can finally show that in terms of result.”
