The Indian Premier League 2017 auctions turned out to be pretty fruitful for the Englishmen as they were picked for a huge amount of money. All-rounder Ben Stokes grabbed the highest bid for himself as he was sold to Rising Pune Supergiants for a sum of Rs 14.5 crore while fast bowler Tymal Mills too bagged a total of Rs 12 crore when he was picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise.
Expressing his joy and happiness, one of England’s most talked about and controversial cricketer Kevin Pietersen took to social media and told how he felt about Stokes now being a part of IPL.
“A T20 specialist becomes one of the current England team’s richest players,” said Pietersen.
“I embraced [T20] eight years ago and it’s what caused me my P45,” said the 36-year-old on social media. “I absolutely love how all these youngsters are now benefiting.
“I love how T20 is growing the game. I’m just saying that Tests are falling way behind at the moment. The ICC [International Cricket Council] needs to act and quick.”
Earlier, Pietersen had a spat with former England coach with Peter Moores where the flamboyant batsman was accused of showing unprofessional behaviour during the matches in the dressing room.
A flurry of controversies surrounded Pietersen which eventually led to his exit from the team. While Pietersen is now expecting a “diminished” return to the England side, Alastair Cook’s captaincy career had seen some glittering moments.
