The Indian Premier League 2017 auctions turned out to be pretty fruitful for the Englishmen where the England players were picked for a huge amount of money. While this was a gain for the Englishmen as far as the monetary logic is concerned, the franchises might have created a difficult situation for themselves when the tournament progresses. Ben Stokes emerged to be the most expensive pick in the IPL 2017 auctions.
Stokes, though, expressed his joy being picked as the highest paid overseas player and also showed his hunger of playing with MS Dhoni.
“I am really looking forward to playing with MS Dhoni and Steven Smith. It will be great to share the dressing room with both these players. Dhoni is one of the biggest players in the world and Smith too is one of the best. While I have had some heated moments against Smith, looking forward to play alongside him. He is an amazing player,” Stokes said in a Facebook chat on his official page.
“I might miss only the last group game. I will play most of it. I will probably play the full season. I am looking forward to playing plenty of T20 cricket, something we don’t get to do as England players,” he said.
Australian captain Steve Smith, who is all set to be announced as the next Rising Pune Super Giant captain, after the IPL franchisee removed MS Dhoni as the skipper, welcomed the England star all-rounder Ben Stokes to the team.
There was great hype around the IPL auctions with Ben Stokes. RCB captain Virat Kohli had earlier clearly stated that his team will be targeting to get him on board. Gujarat also expressed their interest in signing him.
