Australia proved themselves to be a far better opposition for India than most of the teams that have toured India in the recent past. Yet again, India had difficulties in cleaning up the tail last evening and Mitchell Starc pounced upon the opportunity to make himself an invaluable fifty at number 9. His crucial last-wicket partnership with Hazlewood ensured that Australia cross past the 250 mark. Now, a first innings total of that amount may not good anywhere else but so far as the pitch goes, 250 does seem to be quite an effort.
India also have to take note that they will be batting last and hence, they needed a big first innings. That wasn’t to happen as Hazlewood struck the first blow by getting rid of Vijay. Mitchell Starc then bowled the over of the match by first getting out Pujara with an absolute jaffa and then got rid of the man in form, his RCB team-mate/skipper, Virat Kohli. Here’s how Twitter reacted to Australia and India’s performances respectively in the first session of play on Day 2.
