The IPL so far has been, if not exactly, a rather eventful affair. With some big knocks, star-studded attendance, controversial calls, and pretty out-of-this-world celebrations. One of India’s biggest cash-rich cricket tournaments time and again proves to be a staple in every household, with fans glued to ball-to-ball updates.
In the midst of all the electrifying action on the pitch, there are some players who stand out. Not only for their performances but also due to some of their iconic gestures. One such example is that of South Africa and Chennai Super Kings master spinner Imran Tahir.
The ball-wizard has been sending some of the biggest batsmen in the IPL this season into a complete frenzy with his mindblowing bowling tactics. Someone who has played all over the world and has a great deal of experience, Tahir has proven this year that he is a force not to be reckoned with.
We have all seen what the man can do with the ball, but what we’re interested in is what happens once he takes a wicket. That signature open-arm, bolt-sprint around the ground with a wide grin is something our eyes have gotten used to.
Well, finally the man has come front and shed light on what makes him celebrate in that iconic manner.
Dearly known as the “Parasakthi Express” by his CSK teammates, Tahir commented on his celebration, saying, “Sometimes, my wife and son are here, and I want to show them that I love them as much as I love CSK, so at times, I run towards them. But normally, I don’t know when I am celebrating, I hope that people like this. Pray to Allah, I keep taking wickets like this and celebrating like this.”
Firstly, Tahir must know that the fans are in love with his celebration, and secondly, isn’t that the most modest reasons to give for a celebration like that?
Adding to this the 40-year-old player said, “Being here is like a dream for me. Now that I am here, I pray I do not lose out on the opportunity. I am thankful to God that I am on this platform, playing the best league in the world, representing CSK, one of the best teams in the world.”
By the looks of it, CSK do seem to be the best in the business right now, and Tahir is surely a top driving force. The spin-master now holds the record for the most number of wickets (66) after the age of 35 in the history of the IPL.
Chennai Super Kings next face Surisers Hyderabad on Wednesday, 17th April.
