New Zealand’s Corey Anderson has been bought by Delhi Daredevils for Rs. 1 crore in the Indian Premier League auctions in 2017. Anderson was in the Mumbai Indians’ squad last year but did not get to play a single game. Mumbai had released him as they had some other ideas planned. This might turn out to be a smart move from Daredevils as Anderson is a quality all-rounder.
What does Anderson bring to the table?
Corey Anderson hit the second-fastest hundred in ODIs when he smashed an unbeaten 131 off just 47 balls. His medium pace bowling has won many matches for Kiwis in the past and he remains a very important player for them. Anderson is a complete package who can help Daredevils solve the issue of the getting another all-rounder in their ranks. Anderson has not played a single IPL match as of yet and hopefully, he will get a chance to show his T20 skills.

The one thing that catches your eye as soon as you look at Anderson’s record is his strike rate of 137.37. In 85 matches he has played thus far, he has scored 1484 runs. The average, which is slightly above 25, is not too impressive but that is because he bats lower down the order. Anderson must play every game in this year’s IPL or there is no use of buying him.
