Kuldeep Yadav, the young 22-year old chinaman has achieved something quite remarkable with a 4-fer on his debut Test match. This marks a stunning debut from Kuldeep, whose performance has impressed one and all, including legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar himself. Indian coach Anil Kumble, who is also one of the greatest spinners in the history of cricket, was also visibly impressed with Kuldeep and was seen constantly applauding him from the dressing room.
The performance was all the more impressive as the pitch in Dharamsala is easily the best pitch in the series for the batsman and the one least conducive for spin bowlers. It also is a Day 1 pitch, where there is hardly any assistance for the spinners out on the track. Yet, he left the Australian batsmen bamboozled with his different variations and they looked completely out of their depths while facing him.
Kuldeep got the crucial top order wickets of David Warner, Peter Handscomb and Glenn Maxwell and then helped India in their efforts of wiping out the Australian tail with the wicket of Pat Cummins, who was starting to add some crucial runs to the Australian total with Matthew Wade.
This marks one of the best debuts witnessed in recent memory of Indian cricket and if Kuldeep works hard and keeps progressing, India will have a real bowling superstar in their hands. One now wonders if the series would have panned out in a different manner if the Indians would have been bold and had unleashed Kuldeep on the Australians earlier.
