The final of the second edition of the Pakistan Super League is in jeopardy due to the unfortunate blasts in Lahore, which left many people dead. It is another big blow for the T20 league in Pakistan after the spot-fixing scandal which led to the indefinite suspensions of Nasir Jamshed, Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif.
Dubai as the backup venue
Najam Sethi had earlier announced that the final of the second edition of the PSL would be held in Lahore and that he had convinced the overseas players of their security in the city. But the blasts in Lahore have seriously jeopardized the PCB’s plan to bring a big tournament back to Pakistan.
The Pakistan Cricket Board have now enlisted Dubai International Stadium in Dubai as an alternate venue, in the scenario in which they are unable to sell the idea of playing in Lahore to the overseas players, according to reports in the Pakistani media.
The blasts in Lahore might further starve the Pakistani fans of seeing top level players performing on their home soil, as no top-level international side has toured Pakistan since 2009.
The blasts also harms Pakistan’s chances of convincing international teams of touring the terrorism-stricken nation in future fixtures.
