Indian opener and skipper Virat Kohli‘s deputy in limited-overs format, Rohit Sharma has cleared the Yo-Yo test or say fitness test ahead of the much anticipated UK tour. The tour starts in Ireland from June 27 to 29, in which India will feature two T20Is at Dublin.
After that, India will head towards England for three T20Is, ODIs and Test series. Rohit confirmed the news by posting a photo of him on his official Instagram account.
Rohit gave the test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore. The right-hander was on holiday off late and requested the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) for this test to be conducted on Wednesday. Ajinkya Rahane, who led the team against Afghanistan in Bangalore in the historic Test, has been put on standby but seems like there is no need for it now.
Yo-Yo test has become compulsory for all players in order for their selection in the national team. A number of players that includes Mohammed Shami, Ambati Rayudu, and Sanju Samson have already failed the test and have been axed from the team. Samson and Rayudu who had an excellent Indian Premier League season failed in the tests and resulted in their axing from India A and India team respectively.
Skipper Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri have set their parameter on 16.1 in the test and the same is also the eligibility criteria for others.
