Kolkata Knight Riders arguably had the greatest anthem in the decade-plus history of the IPL in the form of ‘Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo’. The song perfectly captured the essence of the city of Kolkata and the state of West Bengal as a whole, hyping up the fans with its lyrics which promised that the team would fight till the end to win.
But many things have changed in the IPL as it has evolved drastically over the years and time has also come for the Kolkata-based franchise to evolve.
The team has decided to go with a new theme song for the upcoming season of the IPL according to a report in Insidesport.com which will be named ‘Run, Run, Run’ and has been sung by none other than ‘King Khan’ Shah Rukh Khan himself.
The report also states that the song has already been recorded and was composed by renowned music director and singer Bappi Lahiri. Shah Rukh was not initially convinced to lend his voice but it was the legendary Bappi Lahiri who made Khan’s mind up to sing the song if a report in Bollywoodhungama.com is to be believed.
Khan rehearsed a lot for his performance and the results are believed to be positive leading to a peppy number.
Shah Rukh Khan is not a trained singer by any means, but this will not be the first instance where he has sang a song. He lent his voice to the hit song from ‘Josh’ named ‘Apun Bola’.
We will have to wait and watch whether these reports turn out to be true as the teams will soon start releasing anthems for their upcoming campaigns. But KKR fans will undoubtedly be excited by the prospect of their owner singing the teams official theme song.
