Shahid Afridi once again emerged as a saviour when he came forward to help 25 Pakistani prisoners and paid a sum of 21 thousand dollars. The prisoners weren’t held for a major crime. After helping these prisoners Afridi has assured to help other prisoners as well.
“By grace of Allah we are facilitating release of 30 prisoners for now, more will be released in coming days,” tweeted the star cricketer.
The flamboyant Pakistan player is already known for his charity efforts. Afridi also runs a charity foundation called SAF (Shahid Afridi Foundation) which he opened in March 2014. The foundation targets at providing free education and basic healthcare for the unprivileged.
The foundation of Afridi built “Sahibzada Fazal Rehman Memorial and Charity Hospital” in a village Tangi Banda in Kohat which offers free treatment. Apart from this he helped the villagers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who were facing water crisis.
Afridi’s SAF came up to provide scholarships for 12 deserving students and built a basketball court in a school in Karachi. In 2015, the right-hand aggressive batsman announced a sum of 5 million for victims of 2015 Hindu Kush earthquake in Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar.
In 2015, the cricketer was included in the list of top 20 most charitable sportsperson along with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Serena Williams, Neymar Jr, Lebron James.
