India’s new head coach Anil Kumble began his one-year stint with the national side on Wednesday in what was a rain-hit first day of the national camp in Bangalore. The rain, though, could not affect the team’s spirit as the players practiced indoors to make sure that no time was wasted.
Kumble, who has been welcomed gracefully by the senior members of the side, found another fan in the team on the first day of the camp. Shardul Thakur, who is in line to make debut for India on the West Indies tour next month, was awed by the presence of Anil Kumble in the camp. The rookie while talking to BCCI.tv, said, “I must say he created an impact right in his first interaction itself. I am keen to work with him and learn a lot of things.”
Interestingly, both Kumble and Thakur will be new in their respective roles. While Thakur will be having his first experience in the Indian team as a player, Kumble will be back in the team in the new role as head coach.
Thakur further said that his interaction with Kumble would provide him with great knowledge in the coming months. “He is a legend. He has loads of experience and it is going to be very useful to the team and me. I am looking forward to spend time with him on this tour.”
