Jharkhand batsman Ishank Jaggi made a solid statement with the bat to the IPL franchisees who did not pick him in their list of players they wish to buy at the auctions next month. Ishank scored 90 off 51 balls in the Syed Mushtaq Ali clash against South Zone to record the second successive win for East Zone in the tournament.
Jaggi had a terrific Ranji Trophy season for Jharkhand scoring 890 runs in 10 matches with an amazing average of 59.3. He must have had thought that this was enough to impress the IPL teams to at least enlist him in their pool of players they want to pick in their squad. Alas, it was not to be as he did not make it in the list of 351 players who will go under the hammer in IPL auctions on February 20.
Jaggi’s 80-run knock made sure that he gave a tough time to the bowlers of South Zone as he made a mockery of the total put up on the scoreboard by them. South Zone has put 179 on the board and it looked as if it was going to be a tough task for East Zone chasing this one. But Jaggi’s stroke-play reflected that he was up for a big one, eventually helping his side win the match easily.
It was not the first time Jaggi shone with the bat. He had scored a valiant 51 in the first game of the tournament as well against Central Zone. By looking at these numbers, one can only be amazed at this ignorance by the IPL franchisees of Jaggi.
