It is no surprise that Virat Kohli has bagged yet another award for his outstanding contributions. However, only this time he had to share this honor with rising Indian pacer – Jasprit Bumrah. The duo jointly accepted the award for Sportsman of The Year at the Sportstar Aces Awards.
Shane Warne, former Australian spinner and Rajasthan Royals brand ambassador, presented the award to the Indian captain Virat Kohli. “Virat is a very inspiring cricketer all around the world. He stands up for what he believes in and speaks his heart. He has got a lot of inbuilt skill and talent, which is good competition, and the will to complete the job. I congratulate him for this award and wish him more success,” said Warne.
Kohli has smashed five centuries and four fifties across 12 tests in 2018; he also scored 1202 ODI runs and at a whopping average of 133.5. As far as Bumrah is concerned, he has become the hot favorite in the Indian bowling attack across all three formats. The pacer had an outstanding season down under and has been rested to be at his best for the World Cup. For the stats, Bumrah has 22 wickets in only 13 ODIs at an extremely low economy rate of 3.62.
Jasprit Bumrah received his award from ICC’s first Independent chairman and formed BCCI president, Shashank Manohar.
