Post narrowly escaping the Christchurch shootings in New Zealand last week, two Bangladesh cricketers – Mehedi Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman decided to tie the knot with their fiancees without wasting much time.
Hasan and Rahman were part of the 17-member cricket squad who were being escorted to the mosque where the ghastly terror act took place in New Zealand where 50 people lost their lives.
The third Test match between New Zealand and Bangladesh was cancelled. The tour was called off and Bangladesh cricketers immediately returned home in a shocked state.
Team manager Khaled Mashud said his players were “really lucky” and would have been caught up in the massacre if they had arrived just a few minutes later.
However, immediately after coming back to the country, off spinner Mehedi Hasan tied the knot with his long-term girlfriend Rabiya Akhter Priti. The wedding took place on Thursday in the city of Khulna.
Hasan took to Facebook to share the news with his fans: “I am starting a new journey in my life today.
I would like to request the blessings of all my fans and well wishers for my new beginning. May the Rahmat of Allah always shower upon us.”
