Virat Kohli’s poor form in the series against Australia has cost him a place in the latest ICC Test rankings. Kohli has dropped down one place in the rankings and currently occupies the No.3 spot. Virat’s No.2 spot has now been claimed by England Test captain Joe Root.
Virat Kohli, the Indian captain, has had to endure a poor start to the series against Australia, failing to continue his brilliant form in the home season. He has failed to register big scores in both the Test matches against Australia in Pune and Bangalore. With him losing a spot, he’ll now be hoping to regain his form in the third Test match at Ranchi.
Australian captain Steven Smith continues to lead the rankings charts and a has a firm grip on top of the ICC rankings.
It was a good news for other Indian batsmen after the Bangalore Test, though, as Cheteshwar Pujara moved up 5 places to claim the No.6 ranking in the charts and Ajinkya Rahane too climbed up two places to claim the 15th position.
In the bowlers’ charts, India’s spin dominance is visibly clear as both Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are now joint top in the ICC bowler’s rankings. Ravichandran Ashwin led the bowling charts, but Jadeja’s brilliant performances have seen him catch up on his teammate.
In the Test team rankings, India have stayed comfortably on top of the ranking charts.
