In a huge blow to the Indian cricket team, skipper Virat Kohli has suffered a potentially serious shoulder injury while fielding in the third Test against Australia at Ranchi.
The Indian skipper was trying to save a boundary when he landed awkwardly on his shoulder. He was then treated by the physio and went off the field. In his absence, Ajinkya Rahane, being the vice-captain of the side, has taken over the mantle of leading the side.

The news will come as a huge blow for India if the injury turns out to be a serious one. Despite not being in the best of form for the first two Test matches, Kohli is still the most influential batter in the Indian line-up. He has had a sensational home season so far and could be counted upon to finally come good in this series.
Kohli also has an exceptional record against the Australians and if he is ruled out for a period of time with a shoulder injury, it would be a huge boost for the Australians and their chances of winning the series in India.
India will be hoping that the injury is nothing serious and Kohli soon takes the field against the Australians in the third Test in Ranchi.
