Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s reception in the city of dreams, Mumbai, had to be as majestic and larger-than-life as a Bollywood blockbuster movie. After all, one of the most beautiful B-town divas has got married to the most charming Indian sportsman, so things had to get spicier!
After a high-profile yet hush-hush wedding in Italy, followed by a grand reception in Delhi with even the PM attending in tow, last night was all about the grand finale of this love saga.
Of course, the night was filled with glitz and glam, with a horde of tinsel town celebs attending the reception in stunning creations. But what made it all the more enthralling? It was the presence of a large number Indian sports stars that graced the event in their most fashionable avatars!
Here’s a look at what the host of sports celebrities wore for the star-studded night.
India’s badminton star and London Olympic bronze medallist Saina Nehwal looked resplendent in a blush pink and orange-hued anarkali from the house of Neeta Lulla.
The three-tiered antalkali had hues of orange on the hemline and intricate floral embroidery on the bodice. She clubbed the outfit with a matching sheer dupatta, which she had gracefully wrapped around her shoulders. The neutral make-up with the smokey eyes and subtle pink lips made her look elegant.
Sachin Tendulkar along with his wife Anjali Tendulkar and daughter Sara attended the grand reception.
The demigod of cricket looked handsome in an understated navy blue suit and his secret weapon…his endearing smile, made him a favourite amongst the shutterbugs.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni also made a stylish appearance at the venue and the former Indian captain didn’t have to try too hard to look dapper in his classic black suit.
Cricket all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja made a hunkalicious entry in a suave black suit with a black bow from SGS Silk Mills. The stylishly studded collar and lapels grabbed eyeballs and he looked every bit of the Rajput boy he is!
Yuvraj Singh showed up in a maroon sherwani with a matching jacket that had a velvety texture and gold embroidery on the front. While we loved the look, it was more weddingy and looked a bit of overkill for a glamorous reception function. He clubbed the look with traditional gold juttis.
Harbhajan Singh posed merrily with Yuvraj in many pictures but disappointed us with his dark brown trousers and beige short sherwani that he clubbed with a matching turban. But we love how the tan shoes complement his muted look and throw in a stylish element.
Zaheer Khan attended the event with his new bride Sagarika Ghatge and stole the show with his innate star quality. The good-looking cricketer wore a checkered grey suit that he teamed up with tan shoes that made him look regal.
India’s Davis Cup Captain Mahesh Bhupathi wore a crisp black suit that he rounded off with a white shirt and black shoes.
Rohit Sharma was decked up in a cool Troy Costa black blazer and walked in hand-in-hand with wife Ritika Sajdeh at St Regis, Mumbai.
