England opener and in-form batsman Alex Hales has called for an indefinite leave just days before the ICC World Cup training camp, which is set to begin for the 15-man English squad.
The reasons for this leave are not clear as Alex has just termed it to be personal reasons that are coming in the way of him investing time in the training camp along with the rest of the team.
He also excused himself from the match between Nottinghamshire and Lancashire a couple of days ago.
The county stated that Alex made himself unavailable for the match due to personal reasons and he has not set a timetable for his comeback either.
The reasons for his absence are only known to the high-ranking officials at Nottinghamshire and they have agreed for him to take the desired leave. The fellow England team-mates and officials have been kept in the dark about the reasons as well.
England have a three-day camp that is set to begin next Saturday and Hales must be a part of it, if he has to cement his position in starting XI for the World Cup. Since, the opener has also retired from test cricket, this becomes his only opportunity to take centre stage and show off his talent.
The batsman has not been away from the news since his fist-fight involvement with fellow teammate Ben Stokes.
Along with the fist-fight incident, Alex Hales was in the news for splitting up with his long-term girlfriend a few weeks ago. They split over Hales’ cheating scandal:
We believe that this could well be the reason for Alex Hales to have taken an indefinite leave from cricket, maybe he is trying to fix things on the personal end so that he can perform better professionally.
Alex would be a big miss for England in the World Cup if he cannot perform well or not make it to the squad altogether.
