On this day, in 2015, during the World Cup encounter between Sri Lanka and Scotland, Kumar Sangakkara became the first batsman to score four consecutive centuries in a row in ODIs. He also became the first batsman to score 4 hundreds in a World Cup tournament. Playing at Bellerive Oval, Hobart, Sangakkara reached his century off the 86th ball with a couple on the last ball of the 34th over by Kyle Coetzer. This was Sangakkara’s 25th ODI ton in 403rd match. Sangakkara scored total 124 off 95 in that innings, including 13 fours and 4 sixes. Besides him, Tillakaratne Dilshan too scored a ton and helped Sri Lanka post a massive total of 363-9 and win the match by 148 runs.
