On this day, back in 1997 at Bridgetown, playing against West Indies in the 3rd Test of the series, Indian batsmen bowed down to Caribbean pacers. It was Brian Lara’s captaincy debut, where India were asked to chase only 120. Only three pacers needed for West Indies: Curtly Ambrose, Ian Bishop and Franklyn Rose: who dismissed India for mere 81. Opener VVS Laxman was the only batsman to score in double digits. It is considered to be one of India’s greatest defeats and one of the heart-breaking losses under Sachin Tendulkar’s captaincy.
