On this day, back in the year 1991 against Australia during the final match of Austral-Asia Cup also known as Sharjah Cup; Pakistani pacer Wasim Akram claimed his second ODI hat-trick in less than a year span. With this hat-trick, Akram also became the first ever bowler to take a hat-trick in ODI final of a tournament. Moreover, all the three wickets of his hat-trick were bowled and the victims were Merv Hughes, Carl Rackemann and Terry Alderman. Akram also became the first bowler to take multiple hat-tricks in ODIs. His hat-trick ended the Australian innings as they were bowled out for 230 and Pakistan won the final by 36 runs. In addition, Akram had also scored 35-ball 49 not out earlier in the match to help Pakistan score 266-7.
