Chelsea is currently having a great start to their Premier League season under new manager Maurizio Sarri and are currently sitting in the third position. While the blues are putting up the challenge for the title this season, owner Roman Abramovich is yet to step his foot in the club.
The Russian Billionaire is known for his lavish lifestyle beyond the football turf. We look at Russian oligarch’s super yacht which is the is the second largest private yacht in the world.
Abramovich’s lavish and extravagant residence has to be his superyacht Eclipse, which was the biggest private yacht in the world when the Russian picked up its keys. With all the maintenance and upgrades, the cost of the yacht is well over £1 billion.
You must be wondering as to what is so special about the yacht. According to reports in The Sun, the yacht has 24 guest cabins, two swimming pools, hot tubs, a sauna – and even a nightclub. The massive ship also has a cinema hall, conference room, children’s playroom and hair salon.
The fuel tanks are said to be able to hold a million litres, meaning it can travel 6,000 miles before it needs topping up. Eclipse boasts nine decks, the top one containing two helipads and a garage. The ship which has eighth decks features a swimming pool and a sundeck, with a pull-out barbecue and pizza oven and a built-in wood burning fire pit.
The Eclipse has two helipads, three launch boats and a mini-submarine that can dive to 50m.
The ship is built by renowned German shipbuilder Blohm & Voss in the Hamburg shipyards that built the Bismarck. The yacht, built in 2010 and renovated in 2015, even has a missile detection system. The maintenance of the superyacht is as expensive as its building cost with 40 million a year.
