As legendary as Arsene Wenger’s tenure is at Arsenal Football Club, perhaps the Frenchman’s relationship with zips has gained even a bigger cult following. There is no denying the fact that Wenger is one of the greatest managers of all-time. His achievements speak for himself and in his 20+ years in charge of Arsenal, he won innumerous trophies and with his tactics and fitness regimes, almost single-handedly revolutionized English football know for it’s hoofball tactics.
Wenger gave innumerable memorable moments to not only the Arsenal but all the neutral fans as well but none were more memorable than his wars against the zips of his coats.
Here are a few incidents where Wenger and his zips were at loggerheads:
Now having stepped down from the role of Arsenal’s manager, Wenger is enjoying his rare time-off after years of stress and is a much more relaxed man these days. This has given him some valuable time to ponder upon various things, one of which include his trouble with the zippers.
Speaking in an interview to beIN Sports, Wenger, when confronted with the question on whether he solved the issue, answered:
“Yes, in fact I improved in that. I was conscious of that! They are too long and sometimes the zip didn’t work. I struggled a lot with that. But, in the end, because people were showing it I was conscious that I was under scrutiny when doing it!”
