Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe celebrated his 20th birthday a couple of days back (December 20) and the World Cup winner received not just one, but two special set of custom-made Nike sneakers from the manufacturers.
Coming in a stylish “1998-2018″ pack, the 20-year-old received a pair of Nike Air Max 270s as well as Nike Air Max Plus, which also immortalised France’s FIFA World Cup triumph. Both these sneakers have their respective significance. While the Air Max Plus represents the footballer’s birth year – 1998 – it also pays homage to the 1998 France’s squad which won the FIFA World Cup for the very first time at the Stade de France.
Hence, apart from the French colours, a star has also been embedded on it. The Air Max 270, on the other hand, celebrates France’s recent World Cup triumph and symbolises the team led by young talented players. The red and blue horizontal shade on the white sneakers represents the away jersey the Les Blues donned during the tournament; especially their performance against Uruguay in the quarter-final.
Apart from that, the two stars embedded on the design works as a link between the two generations (the 1998 and the 2018 World Cup winning squad). Meanwhile, for the design, French sneaker website WAVE joined hands with designers Julien Pagès and Mathias Prognon.
Mabppe’s hot streak in front of goal hasn’t taken even a slightest of dip. In 11 league fixtures, the 20-year-old has already bagged 12 goals, taking his total to 15 goals in all competition. He remains only one goal shy of equalling his tally from the previous season, where he scored 13 goals in 27 league games.
