Barcelona recently completed the signing of 23-year-old center-back Yerry Mina from Brazilian club Palmeiras with the fee reported to be around €11.8m (£10.45m) and as confirmed by the club, the Colombia international carries a whopping 100 million Euro (£88.6m) release clause on his head.
Mina has signed a five-and-a-half-year deal with Barcelona and has become the club’s second January acquisition, following the arrival of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool for a jaw-dropping £145 million. Also, the 23-year-old center-half will now become the first Colombian to play for Barcelona and his unveiling was indeed a memorable one.
As he stepped out of that Camp Nou tunnel, posing for the pictures followed and soon after that, the Colombia international stunned everyone by taking off his boots and socks before stepping on the turf for the very first time. Just in case if you don’t know, the Colombian used the same ritual at the time he was unveiled as a Palmeiras player back in May 2016. Explaining the reason behind this, the center-back explained, “There is a saying in my country that says, ‘Touch the land you want to conquer with the sole of your feet.’ And here I want to make history with everyone.

“I always do it and I hope to succeed.
“I have come to work. To contribute to the team and learn from my team-mates. This is a great club and since arriving you can feel the atmosphere here. I was given the opportunity to come now and I did not think twice. I’m going to work to bring somethings to the best players in the world.”
The 23-year-old will wear the No24 shirt at Barcelona and there happen to be some reports claiming that Valverde might look to loan him out for further development.
A classy touch by Mina!
