“Better than Salah,” Manchester United fans react on Twitter as Anthony Martial turns 22

Manchester United’s Anthony Martial has turned 22 today and Twitter cannot stop recalling the Frenchman’s most memorable Manchester United moment; his goal against Liverpool at Old Trafford right in front of the Stretford End.

Brought for a hefty £36 million, potentially rising to £58 million, from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, Martial was an unknown quantity until the day he stepped onto the field. To add further glory to his career, it is safe to say his goal against the Reds was a just a trailer as he went on to 17 goals in all competition that season, eventually becoming Manchester United’s highest scorer in the 2015-16 campaign.

However, with Mourinho arriving, Martial’s game time struggled and soon followed his potential exit rumours. They say patience is the key and this is what both Mourinho and Martial kept. With a new season arriving (2017/18), Martial became Mourinho’s most trusted deputy, eventually becoming the Portuguese’s super sub.

The Frenchman has bagged 8 goals this season, equalling his tally of the previous season already. Safe to say a lot is expected from Martial this season and with the club still alive in all competition, the 22-year-old won’t find playing a regular football difficult.
