Seems like Chelsea winger Eden Hazard just like toying with the media and his recent statement over his Chelsea future is the perfect specimen of it.
Hazard, over the years, has been linked with a move to Spain – Real Madrid especially – and speaking about same, he too has time and again expressed his desire of playing in La Liga. The story dates back to the time when Zinedine Zidane was still at Real Madrid. The Frenchman heaped praises on the Belgium captain followed by Hazard expressing his wishes of working under the manager.
But somehow the move has never come to fruition. Hazard has been at Chelsea since 2012 and has made an impressive impact ever since, guiding them to two Premier Leagues as well as one UEFA Europa League honour. As of now, plenty is going around the Belgian’s future, with reports emerging that Chelsea are planning to hand him a new and much-improved contract. Nothing concrete has been said and done so far about it, but the player has given an indication that he might retire with Chelsea.
“I can finish with Chelsea,” the Premier League’s top scorer told Renault Match Zone.
“No problem at all. I am very happy with this club, with the team, my family is happy here.
“So If I don’t go to Spain, it is not a problem. I love the fans – I think the fans love me! What happens in the future, I will be happy, so that’s it.”
Hazard will have just one more year left on his current Chelsea deal by the end of current season and rumours are rife that the club are in talks with his representative over a new deal. Hazard grabbed everyone’s attention right after the FIFA World Cup where he went on to claim he is looking for a change and Real Madrid is where his dreams reside.
It will now be interesting to see where his destiny eventually lands him. But for now, his concentration now remains focus for the Manchester United game at Stamford Bridge.
