England succumbed to an eight-wicket loss in the first T20I against India on Tuesday, but despite that England players were ecstatic after their football team made them proud in the ongoing 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Just when Team India won the match, Colombian defender Yerra Mina scored the equalizing goal and the match went into extra time and cricketers had time to watch the climax of the match.
The extra-time was dominated by Colombia but England footballers kept their nerves to take the match to the penalty shoot-out. Eventually, it was Gareth Southgate’s men that emerged victorious after 10 spot-kicks, taking them into the quarter-finals.
And as soon as the winning penalty went in which was scored by Eric Dier – England cricketers went berzerk in their dressing room and started singing the famous song “It’s Coming Home”.
Jos Buttler posted a clip on Instagram, which shows players jumping around in a huddle after the final kick, with a few of donning the national team’s jerseys. Even Chris Jordan posted a story of the celebrations.
