Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has revealed that his future at the Emirates will be decided very ‘soon’.
The German’s current contract with the club runs until the summer of 2018 and he alongside Alexis Sanchez is quite reluctant to sign a new deal, mainly due to the club’s lack of success in recent times. To add further misery to the Gunner’s fate, Arsene Wenger’s stay is uncertain as well.
Ozil, on his part, has been very vocal and has time and again showed his support for Arsene Wenger. This season, he has only managed 5 Premier League goals and has further assisted 4 strikes even after creating 59 goal scoring chances. But besides his attacking contributions, the German is majorly criticized for his lack of defensive awareness and the fact that he averages just 1 defensive action per game speaks volume.
He told German newspaper Die Welt: “Do you think Arsene Wenger tells the journalists [about my future] before he tells me? I know him differently.
“I have a contract until 2018 in London and I feel very comfortable there. We’ll talk soon and then make a decision.
“My dream is to win the Champions League. Why not with Arsenal? Of course, we just have a difficult time and are not satisfied with sixth place.
“I am convinced, however, that we will catch up again soon. Let’s see what the future holds.”
The former Real Madrid man missed Arsenal’s previous fixture ( a 3-1 defeat at hands of West Brom) but will be expected to make it to the grade against Manchester City on April 2nd.
