A wonder goal from Dani Carvajal saw Real Madrid through to lift the UEFA Super Cup in extra time. In what was an evenly contested game, Marco Asensio provided the breakthrough on debut for Real with a stunning opener. Substitute, Yevhen Konoplyanka scored in the 72th minute penalty after Franco Vazquez had given the lead in the 42nd minute.
Sevilla seemed like they were cruising through to win yet title but Real Madrid struck back in extra time through Sergio Ramos. Being not famous worldwide for their Galactico policy, the Los Blancos began the match with four players who had played for the youth club. Carvajal, Morata, Casillas and Vazquez had all started.
But then it took a magical goal from Dani Carvajal, right in the 119th minute. Cutting in from the right flank, Dani burst through a couple of defenders, wonderfully well before slotting it through the net. Sevilla were heartbroken as the final whistle went up as Real inflicted yet another defeat on their lesser famous rivals. Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane didn’t introduce Benzema and Bale until the later stages.
