A father-son duo has set off on their journey to Baku to watch the Europa League final. Their trip involves four modes of travel, four flights, 24-hour train, and a taxi ride.
Chelsea are all set to play Arsenal in an all-English Europa League final. The final will be played in Baku, Azerbaijan which is a fair distance from London. A father-son duo Jake Ralph, 27 and Kevin Cobb, 59, have set off on their journey to Baku but they aren’t taking the conventional route.
In a bid to save some bucks during their travel, this duo has set off on a journey that includes four different modes of travel. They claim to be saving £500 each on their travels to the Azerbaijan capital.
They have already set off on their journey as the final is only a few days away. The above picture was posted on the Twitter account with the caption: Between Europe & Asia on the Bosphorus. The duo really seems to be on an adventure.
Jake and Kevin are blowing out all the stops and having a lot of fun on their trip. They chose to take this route as the in-direct flights were above £500 and there are no direct flights for the journey either. Moreover, the travel difficulties are going to lead to a number of empty seats in the stadium.
Anyway, coming back to the journey here is a map view and more details of their journey:
Since the flights are too expensive, Jake and Ralph devised their own journey as seen in the graphic above. They set off on this epic journey on Tuesday night as they got on the last flight from London to Istanbul. They spent most of Wednesday sightseeing and then got on another flight to Ankara. Thursday they boarded the Dogu Ekspresi train from Ankara to Kars. This train covers 814 miles and is a 24-hour trip for £25 for the duo. From Kars they are set to take a cab to Tbilisi. Just tired by reading about it, are you? There’s more.
They will spend the weekend with fellow Chelsea fans and then take another train to Baku where they shall reach Monday morning – two days before the final.
Just for the sake of this incredible journey, we hope that Chelsea can put up a show that’s worthy of these efforts.
