Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic has said that the club needs to sign more experienced in the summer transfer window in order to challenge for major silverware next season. Jose Mourinho, in his first season in charge at Manchester United, led the club to the Europa League triumph, however, failed to bring any silverware in the following season. United, who finished second in the league standings, did reach the FA Cup final this season, but lost the title to Antonio Conte's Chelsea; courtesy to Eden Hazard's penalty.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has sanctioned the £50 million transfer of midfielder Nemanja Matic to rivals Manchester United, according to reports from the Daily Telegraph.
The Serbian international remains keen on a reunion with former boss Jose Mourinho and United have already had a £35 million bid rejected by the Blues for Matic. However, now that the owner has given the go-ahead for the move, it is likely that a transfer will be completed at the earliest.
Matic was a key cog in the club's Premier League triumph last season under new manager Antonio Conte. But following the new arrival of midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, the 28-year old is likely to spend a lot of time on bench, which is why he is intent on a move away from the Stamford Bridge.
Serie A champions Juventus too are interested in the midfielder, who was left out of the club's pre-season tour to Asia. However, United will be looking to push through a deal at the earliest and Mourinho is expected to come back with a second bid soon.
There were some reservations about the transfer going through, following United's poaching of Romelu Lukaku from Everton, from under the noses of Chelsea. But Abramovich is happy to do business with the Red Devils, and has given the move a blessing, provided the two clubs are able to agree upon a fee.
The champions of England have left out five of their players from the 25-man pre-season tour squad to Asia, including new signings, Tiemone Bakayoko and Antonio Rudiger. The other stars who are not part of the team are Diego Costa, Nemanja Matic, Kurt Zouma and Eden Hazard. The trio of Costa, Matic and Zouma have been left out with their fate at Stamford Bridge hanging in the balance, while Hazard and Bakayoko have not been picked due to issues regarding their fitness.
It is no secret that the Italian manager is not having the best relationship with his Brazilian born striker at present and that the attacker has not been doing himself a favour by his recent actions. Matic, on the other hand, was being linked with a return to join former boss Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford, as Manchester United looked interested in acquiring his services. Their future at the club looks in peril, as the duo could be leaving the Londoners prior to the start of the new season and their omission from the current squad could be a sign of things to follow.
Further, Zouma was dropped from the team too and is expected to join Stoke City on a season long loan, with the Daily Mail confirming spotting him at the Potter’s training ground over the weekend. Also, new additions to the squad, Bakayoko and Rudiger have been left out for two different reasons and the duo would be disappointed too.
Manchester United may have suffered a setback in their pursuit of Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic, as reports from Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport has claimed that Serie A giants Inter Milan have made an initial £35 million offer for the Serbian international.
The 28-year-old Matic has been strongly linked with a move away from the Stamford Bridge, as manager Antonio Conte is keen on partnering N'Golo Kante with AS Monaco's Tiemoue Bakayoko in the middle of the park. It is understood that the club are close to completing the 22-year old Frenchman's transfer, despite reports of United playing spoilsport in a potential deal doing the rounds.
Jose Mourinho was rumoured to be keen on reuniting with Matic at Old Trafford, and the player too prefers a move to the Old Trafford. But, following United's swift move to pinch Romelu Lukaku from under Chelsea's noses, the Premier League champions may well be reluctant to do business with their rivals.
This has provided Inter with a window of opportunity and they have reportedly submitted an initial bid of £35 million for Matic. The Nerrazzurri are in search of a world class defensive midfielder to add to their ranks and are eyeing AS Roma's Radja Nainggolan as well. But with Roma unwilling to sell any more players, Matic has emerged as the next top target for Inter's new manager Luciano Spaletti.

Matic Wants United Move To Work With Jose Again
Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic is seeking an exit from Premier League champions Chelsea as he desires a move to rivals Manchester United in order to work with former manager Jose Mourinho once again.
The Serbian has developed into a reliable figure at the Stamford Bridge since his return to West London in 2014 and has played an important role in helping the team to two Premier League titles in the last three years. However, with manager Antonio Conte seeking to add new faces to his midfield ahead of the upcoming campaign, Matic feels his days at the club are numbered and is left seeking an exit.
It is reported that Serie A champions Juventus also maintain an interest in the 28-year old midfielder, but Matic prefers to stay in the Premier League and would desire a move to the Old Trafford. (The Sun)
Chelsea Enter The Race To Sign The "Ox"
Premier League champions Chelsea have joined rivals Liverpool and Manchester City in the race to sign versatile Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The 23-year old Englishman is set to enter the final year of his contract with the Gunners and with no progress over negotiations for a new deal, his situation has peaked interests from several clubs. Manager Arsene Wenger had suggested previously that the player was willing to consider a new long term deal with the club, but reports claim that the "Ox" has grown frustrated with the lack of progress in the negotiations and as a result is mulling over his future at the club while away on holiday.
Oxlade-Chamberlain joined Arsenal in 2011 from Southampton and has gone out to represent the club 194 times, including 129 appearances in the Premier League. (Sky Sports)

Chelsea, Liverpool Still In For Koulibaly
Premier League champions Chelsea and rivals Liverpool are set to go head to head in the race for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
The Frenchman has been long linked with a move to the Premier League, with Chelsea reportedly having a bid rejected last summer. And since then, Koulibaly has gone on to sign a new contract with the Partenopei extending his stay till June 2021. However, that hasn’t stopped the Blues from plotting an approach in the upcoming window, and Liverpool to have seemed to join the hunt.
Last month, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis left the door open for an exit in the summer. He was quoted as saying, by The Sun:
"If there's a new offer from Chelsea for Koulibaly? It will depend on the player's will, because if he doesn't want to stay then he can leave."
Koulibaly, if he does decide to leave, will not come cheaply and will cost in excess of £50 million.
