Football has seen many great defenders, but none perhaps to the stature of FC Barcelona and Spain legend Cares Puyol. Born on April 13, 1978, Puyol spent his entire career at Barcelona. A one-club man, Puyol made a total of 593 appearances for the team and won 20 major trophies including 6 La Liga titles and 3 Champion Leagues. He also turned up for Spain 100 times and was part of the squad that won the Euro 2008 and also the FIFA World Cup 2010. Puyol took over as Barcelona captain from Luis Enrique in 2004 and continued to lead the side till his retirement in 2014.
