A 2-1 win over arch nemesis, Arsenal put Manchester United five points clear off third-placed Liverpool with an extra game in hand. Baring the result, it was an emotional evening at the Old Trafford given that it was Arsene Wenger’s last visit at Theatre of Dreams as Arsenal manager, and given his history with Mourinho, it was even more thoughtful. As soon as the Frenchman entered the pitch from the tunnel, every United supporter gave him a well-deserved applause. This wasn’t it, prior to the kick-off, former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson invited the Frenchman on the pitch and gave him a piece of silverware as a gesture for his 22 years in English football.
