British driver Lewis Hamilton won his fifth world championship and joined the elite club of legendary drivers Michael Schumacher, who has seven, and Juan Manuel Fangio, who has five wins to their credit. While he is off the racing track he is the most sought after the driver to become the face of many big companies and has been building his own property.
The richest driver in Formula 1 has several properties, which includes a Monte Carlo home, a New York flat and an estate in Colorado.
Hamilton added yet another property in his list of homes by shelling out £32million to buy a New York penthouse, which is in a celebrity hotspot. The 34-year-old now owns two Manhattan flats after buying a similar property for £34 million two years ago. Hamilton’s new penthouse is in a project part-owned by NFL great Tom Brady and his model wife Gisele Bundchen.
The apartment is situated at 70 Vestry Street, a limestone building designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects, according to The Wall Street Journal. His new 6,547 square-foot home included a huge outdoor area and has views of the Hudson River, as well as a swimming pool, fitness center, squash court, and library.
Last year he also caused controversy when he referred to hometown Stevenage as a “slum”.Hamilton has since apologized for his comment – insisting he did not mean to cause offense.
On the personal front, Hamilton has dated many women and have been in fling relationships over the years. The latest girl in the Brits life is American singer Nicki Minaj. According to reports, the two were dating after they were spotted at New York Fashion Week together last year.
Hamilton is the most marketable figure currently in Formula One arena with him signing endorsements with brands like Mercedes-Benz, Tommy Hilfiger, Monster Energy, Puma, IWC and Sony. He’s currently ranked 47th on the Forbes rich list with a reported wealth of $51m dollars.
