In the world of sports, fans try their best to dig deep into the lives of their favorite sporting icons. More often than not, these athletes try and keep their private life away from the sham of the media but sometimes doing so might just be harder than expected.
With the Azerbaijan Grand Prix around the corner, the heat on the tracks is soaring and the drivers behind the mean machines are all focused on the goal. Apart from the intense race day pressure, these drivers have a few secrets that might just get you a little more interested in them.
Kimi Raikkonen, one of Formula 1’s most iconic names and current driver for Alfa Romeo Racing, has a few interesting facts we bet you did not know. Take a look.
Kimi can sing
Not a lot of people know this little secret about him but the driver has in the past given us hints about his liking towards the musical front. The ‘Iceman’ has a favourite song – ‘Paalupaikka’ which translates to ‘Pole Position’. Kimi also prefers this song as his karaoke jam.
Kimi’s trouble with liers
Kimi has time and again spoken about how he dislikes being beaten around the bush for. Lies aggravate the athlete and he hates being lied to. When Sami Visa, Kimi’s affairs manager and him got into a verbal contract, Kimi said, “If you bull**** me, I’ll kill you.” You do not want to be getting on that side of Kimi.
It is well noticed that the former world champion is a man of few words. When he does speak on occasions, his voice seems low, deep and slightly gravelly. The reason for this is that when Kimi was five years old he fell off his bike and hurt his throat with the handlebar, damaging his vocal cords.
Kimi Raikkonen has never been a fan of reading. This is because the Finnish driver suffers from dyslexia which he inherited from his mother.
Kimi is a romantic
Kimi has often displayed openly confessing his love and respect for his wife, Minttu. The former Ferrari racer is known to be very romantic and close friends have agreed. Burning rubber on the track and making Minttu’s heart melt off it, Kimi sure seems like the complete gentleman.
