Former Indian hockey captain didn’t real find a purple patch both on and off-field last year when he faced two major blows in his personal and professional life. The once Indian hockey’s star player was charged for being indulged in a sexual harassment case during 2016 when his girlfriend filed an FIR against him with the then commissioner of police, Paramraj Singh Umranangal.
The Special Investigation Team later said that there were no evidences found against the Indian hockey player. The lady who has lodged the complaint is also a hockey and has represented and led UK at the under-19 level.
Sardar Singh not only got involved in a legal controversy but later he was also sacked as the skipper of the Indian side which took part in the Rio 2016 Olympics.
Later, in 2017 Delhi Hight Court has ordered trial court to consider afresh the plea against Sardar Singh. Justice Vipin Sanghi, who had earlier granted an interim stay, said that the lower court would hear afresh her matter and pass a fresh order. Singh submitted before the HC that the lower court didn’t allow him a chance to be heard. The woman reached the trial court alleging that the police did not take action on her complaint. The Hockey player earlier denied all the allegations against him made by the British national.
