Though, Britain later in the match encountered couple of injuries but that didn’t really had a set back on them. Kiwis in the meanwhile kept on missing on the opportunities that came up to them after a hard fought battle on the Hockey field.
New Zealand team captain Kayla Whitelock’s play to prevent the goal was too aggressive, and Richardson-Walsh earned the penalty stroke. She nailed it to put Great Britain up 2-0 early in the fourth quarter and two confirm a berth in the ultimate final of the Rio 2016 Olympics, Danson scored the third and final goal of the day and the match. New Zealand could not find a way to come back from the lead Great Britain built up and later just managed to play a bronze medal match against Germany as a consolation of the semi-final loss.
