What added weight to the encounter was that it was the final of the Asian Games in Doha. Fortunately for millions of Indians, India came out on top and triumphed by a score of 35-22.
India have always been the premier Kabaddi team in the world and the 2006 Asian Games was no different. India met Pakistan twice in the tournament and beat them both times. They first beat Pakistan 30-21 in the group stage match-up and then 35-22 in the final, showcasing their supremacy. It was for most parts, a one-sided affair, with the Indians not giving the Pakistani’s an inch.
Kabaddi would simply take on from there and has now went on to become one of the major sport in the nation.
