Janardhan Gehlot, secretary of the Indian Kabaddi Federation, was caught wearing the card of secretary general Randhir Singh of IOA during the London Olympics. Gehlot had mispresented his details to LOCOG. As reported by Mail Today, the IOA got only four cards for the Olympics, secretary general Randhir Singh has “given” his card to Gehlot. Randhir got accreditation from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), where he is a member.
Gehlot was spotted wearing this card during Gagan Narang’s event of shooting air rifle final. MAIL TODAY has learnt that Gehlot gets the “privileges” in London which a secretary general of an NOC is entitled to. There have been a lot of controversies that have popped up in and around the IOC.
The International Olympic Committee earlier this year lifted the 14-month ban on Indian Olympic Association after the appointment of new president Narayana Ramachandran. Ramachandran, the president of the World Squash Federation, has been joined by Rajeev Mehta and Anil Khanna as the new secretary general and treasurer, respectively.
The IOA was banned from taking part in Olympic competition amid allegations of corrupt officials. Three Indian athletes who were independent participants will now compete under Indian flag and will walk behind the India flag at the closing ceremony on February 23.
