India’s medal drought continued on Thursday as archers Deepika Kumari and Bombayla Devi crashed out in the pre-quarterfinals. The only respite for Indian came in form of Saina Nehwal, who started her Olympics campaign on a good note. The tennis mixed duo of Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna also began their mixed doubles campaign on high.
Indian men’s hockey team too lost to The Netherland 2-1 but their performance spoke more than the result. They lost the match but managed to seal the quarter –finals after 36 years wait.
On Friday, all the eyes will be on male archer Atanu Das as he will have his first go in the individual event.
