Shah Rukh Khan is one Bollywood superstar who has always taken a keen interest in the standing of Indian sports. He first brought a hockey revolution in the country with his blockbuster movie ‘Chak De India!’. He also got involved in cricket buying Kolkata Knight Riders, when the IPL was getting underway all the way back in 2008. Shah Rukh was also recently involved in actively promoting the 2018 Men’s Hockey World Cup which is currently underway in Bhubaneshwar.
Khan has also taken a keen interest in the welfare of the Paralympic athletes in the country and is closely working with Deepa Malik and her foundation Wheeling Happiness.
According to a report in Mumbai-based tabloid Mumbai Mirror, Khan on International Day of Disabled Persons donated 50 wheelchairs to Malik’s foundation. The donation was made by Khan’s NGO Meer Foundation.
Khan was quoted as saying by Mumbai Mirror:
“It has been a privilege knowing and associating with Deepa for a cause as virtuous as this. She is just not an inspiration for many but also a reflection of ourselves as we all are incomplete in one way or the other and it is for us to embrace our imperfections and achieve our goals. Felicitating these para-athletes is a step forward in achieving the dream of representing India at the Paralympics.”
Quite a magnanimous gesture from King Khan towards the para-athletes!
