Usain Bolt’s antics are known to everyone. Be it on the tracks or off it, the 30-year-old Jamaican athlete has always managed to bring humour to everything he has been a part of.
And one of those many antics is his world-class celebration ‘The Lightning Bolt’ or what some people calls ‘Bolting’.
Soon after winning 3 Olympic gold medals in Beijing in 2008, the sprinter went on to celebrate his victory in his trademark pose. Three more medals in London in 2012, he again posed in with similar fashion, but what exactly is the secret behind his ‘Lightning Bolt’?
Here it is:
Bolt has referred this to the move To Di World (To The World), which refers to a dance move Dancehall. Dancehall is an up-tempo musical style derived from reggae which is quite a popular style in Jamaica.
“It is called ‘To Di World’ and I feel I am connecting to the people of the world when I do it,” says Bolt.
“I started doing it for fun but people loved it so much they would be angry if I stopped”
He, however, isn’t the only one to do so as he has been photographed with some of the best names in the industry. To name a few, USA’s former president Barack Obama and Prince Harry have been his victims.
