Yusra Mardini, who took part in the Rio Olympics 2016, thanked Indian actor Hrithik Roshan for his support on social media on Sunday. Hrithik had tweeted on August 10, supporting the eighteen-year-old Syrian.
Mardini was a part of the Refugee Olympic Team. She had left her home country, Syria, along with her sister after the country was hit by war. Her escape from Syria was not an easy one as the engine boat which was supposed to help them escape got spoiled and she along with other refugees had to push the boat for 5kms.
Mardini now lives in Germany. She trained hard for the Olympics and took part in the 100m freestyle and the 100m butterfly events.
Tonight I cheer for Yusra Mardini, a real life hero who saved lives through her swimming and is part of refugee Olympic athletes team.
