In a match that seemed to be turning out as an all-out disaster for Murray (losing the first two sets 5-7 and 7-6) was turned on its head by the Scotsman when he made the tie-break his own before going on to win the rest of the sets cleanly, 5-7 7-6 (7-3) 6-0 6-2, to beat French Richard Gasquet.
Murray had previously won 4 out 4 meetings against the Frenchman but this time was turning out to be different before Gasquet let loose the reigns and allowed the match to fall into the hands on the 19-time French Open semi-finalist.
Yannick Noah’s winning streak (1983) was what the crowd hoped Richard Gasquet would replicate this time around but much to the crowd’s despair the result favoured Andy Murray.
Second seed, Murray will now be facing Stan Warwinka in the Semi-final on Friday after the Swiss International beat Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6-2 6-1 7-6 (9-7).
